Thirty-First Meeting

The 31st meeting of the Stern Family Circle took place at the home of Lil and Eddie Warren on the evening of Sept 15, 1951. The minutes read and stand corrected. The treasurer checks his balance and since there is a deficit due to packages sent to Israel, etc. dues tonight will be $10.00. A. says we must bill Herman just the same as if he came to the meetings. Lil says she talked to Sara for an hour without results. The gifts presented to presented to Helen and Monty and Goldie and Fred. Our guests of the evening are Mr and Mrs. Rosner of Bridgeport,Conn. Mr. Rosner has a proposition to offer. He proposes to build a home in Israel of 12 rooms for the 12 children, the proceeds of the rent to be used for whatever is needed, as the housing situation there is desperate. The cost will be $20.00 a month to each of us and in 3 years we will have a nice house. Mr. Rosner will be here in March and offers to care for details. Oz wants to know if its a shortage of money or material. Mr. Rosner says its only money.

Helen and Monty arrive at this point. Lil presents them with a set of pots and pans which opens up all over the living room floor. Sara and Lawrence arrive at this moment... another cash customer. Fred's tie is auctioned off for $1.00 to Eddie. the meeting is adjourned.

Ask Eddie, are the packages to be continued? The packages are to be continued. At this point the Boys ( Albert & Alfred, Known as the boys since they were the youngest) arrive. They are immediately asked for dues. Helen says that she feels she is chasing Herman and Sara away by attending. She is assured that she is not. Her attendance is not the reason they 're not coming.

The treasurer collects $90.00 leaving us a balance of $32.00. Oz says that Sara thinks she is saving money by not attending, that if she had to pay her dues she'd come says the Jr. Vice. A. shuts Goldie up who thanks for the present. He thinks his wife is correct. Ruth says he's trying to save minutes, no one is in favor of expelling Herman and Sara. Monty ends meeting on note that Freddie is making with the pinkie too much.
