Thirty-second Meeting

The 32nd meeting of the Stern Family Circle took place at the home of Helen and Monty Speigel on the evening of Nov. 18th, 1951. Minutes were approved as read. A. says so something has to be done about the treasurer not being present, also that the Rossner deal, offered at last month's meeting was not such a joke. Jr. Vice says treasurer has absconded with the money. Packages have been sent to Israel and out balance is $22.00. The substitute treasurer, Lil, collects $40.00. $30.00 is paid for gifts. Treasurer is reported juggling the figures. Balance of $32.00. Gifts are presented to Alfred and Ruth, Lil and Ed. Albert presents gift to Alfred in Spanish, a three candlestick holder. Good for three cigars or milking a three teated cow.

Jr. Vice wants to hear from the man who is improving himself. Oz promptly gets up and makes a speech. Helen wants all to know that Monty won a trophy. A. presents a dear visitor, Bernice Hoffman (
Nellie's daughter from Canada) also the Manheim twins and their fiance(the twins were Lynn's brothers. Ralph & Irwin & Irwin's fiance Lita Pastelnick). Ralph says it's a damn nice thing you all have here. Ir doesn't want to be bothered talking. Rene ( Lil & Ed's eldest daughter)is asked which she likes better, college or business.
Rene says, college. Lil says yea, but now she has money.

A. says that for 2000 years the Jewish people have wandered over the world and prayers have now been answered for redemption of the home land. Gives us facts on Israel home land and UJA. Asks for all present at the UJA dinner. Helen brings Rainy (
her daughter) down who joins the meeting. A. sks that we should not let this big thing fall by the wayside, asks again that we be there, assures us that no one will be embarrassed by pleas for money. Serious vein of meeting says Jr. Vice. Meeting temporarily adjourned to say ;goodbye to the twins, Lita and Bernice.

A. was place incharge of Penn Jersey district of UJA. tell of certificate of 10,000 trees which have been planted in his honor. This fact related by big men of the convention.

Meeting adjourned for refreshments.
