Twenty-seventh Meeting

The 27th meeting of the Stern Family Circle took place at the home of Mr & Mrs Albert Stern, Chestnut Ave.,Vineland N.J. Minutes approved as read after Sect. take time to burp up champagne and canapes. Jane bring to mind the fact that Herman and Sarah have a 25th wedding anniversary coming up and asks for suggestions. The suggestions are, card and flowers now and gift and dinner later when Herman is able to get about. Helen and Monty arrive at this point. A. appoints a committee to take care of gift. It is voted that a gift rather than money and the gift be given at the anniversary not the dinner. It is also noted that Fred voted against Goldie in the gift versus money routine. Eddie, Lil and Ruthie are appointed on the gift committee. Gifts are given to Gus and Ruth and Albert and Sylvia on the respective anniversaries.

Treasurer's report

110.00
5.00 flowers
115.00 balance
40.00 collections
145.00
5.00 dues

150.00

Sylvia suggests that maybe gifts shouldn't be given every year but only on more important occasions. A. says that it's not the gift but the thought behind it that counts. Mom says Lawrence wants to drop out because he can't afford the dues. This starts a beauteous argument. It isvoted almost unanimously to continue the gifts every year and to give gifts rather than money also keep the gifts at $10.00 which is difficult enough in these trying times rather than lowering it to $5.00. It is also voted that gifts be given instead of money except in case of emergencies.

Monty insists that this is too serious a meeting. Gus says that this is a good meeting, one with meat on it and all factors thrashed out. Sect. insists it's too long and still run into two pages. Sylvia says the reason she mentioned the gift business now was because it was the first of the year and if it was to be discontinued this was the time to do it. A. wants absolutely no comment from Goldie as she doesn't want to serve on any committee so she should have no comments on gifts. Goldie says she doesn't want any silver from now on as she doesn't like to polish it. A price limit is set on gifts for Sara and Herman. $18.00 is paid out for gifts. Meeting is adjourned for refreshments.

Respectfully submitted.

Lynn Stern, Sect.
