The second meeting of the Stern Family Circle took place on May 11 ,1947 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Stern, Grant Avenue, South Vineland, N.J. After refreshments and delicious strawberry shortcake,the meeting was called to order by the president. There was no old business. The secretary read the minutes of the last meeting. There were a few minor but unimportant changes. Eddie read the treasurers report and collected fifty dollars in dues. The president suggested that we bomb Eddie's shed.
Everyone was satisfied with the selection of a gift of a diamond ring to Mam Stern. The album of the anniversary was bought and presented to Mama.
A suggestion was made that we have a Stern family picnic but nothins was done about it.
Discussions took place for plans for a Fathers day gift for Papa. After many suggestions, none of which were approved, save one of diamond ring which Mam said she would wear, it ws decided that individual gifts of wearing apparel be presented. Lil, with the help of Albert and Alfred, to make a list and notify members of family what they should purchase.
Jennie (one of the Canadian sisters), present from Canada at this meeting, made the announcement and extended to the family the invitation to the wedding of her daughter, Gloria to be held at the home of Lynn and Ozzie on May 29th. The family decided that they would attend.
Gus notified the family of a letter of need from Aunts in Europe and the Papa's desire that we donate what we wish. Papa will make up the balance to make it one hundred dollars. Gus collected eighty-five dollars for this fund. A suggestion was made by Ruthie that we send food packages but this was termed not feasible at this time.
No other business of interest to take place the meeting was adjourned by Adolph.
