The fourth meeting of the Stern Family Circle took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oswald Stern, 25 North State Street, Vineland, New Jersey on the evening of Oct. 5th, 1947.
The minutes were and approved as read. The treasurer collected forty-five dollars in dues. Monty suggested that meeting be held every week to help the treasurer pay for his new trucks. It was decided that the next meeting be held at Goldie's home and that it be something special in celebration of Mom and Pop's 56th wedding anniversary. Monty made a motion that the club's name be changed to the Mom and Pop Club. The motion was not carried. Herman suggested that we take Mom and Pop to a show and this motion, too, was not carried.
The meeting became slightly boisterous and Eddie was suggested as Sergent at Arms to maintain order.
A committee to choose a suitable gift for Mom and Pop's anniversary was named. Those appointed to the committee were Ed Warren, Lynn Stern and Helen Spiegel.
Lil reported that all the money made available for shipment of food parcels to relatives in Europe had been used up and that no word had been received as to whether the parcels had been received or not.
Lil was appointed head of a committee to delegate carious individuals to send gifts to any member of the family who was ill.
It was decided that the picnic held at Lil and Eddies during the summer be considered a meting rather than a party but that nodues would be collected for it.
Jane announced that Beth Israel (local synagogue) will have a concert at the Elks and she has tickets to sell but she left them home. At this point, Mom discovered that she lost her pearls.
Monty suggested Goldie find out how many extra people she was going to have and Goldie told everyone that they would have to eat chicken and like it. (Uncle Fred had a chicken farm).
As there was no further business the meeting was adjourned.
At this point there was a violent argument between Sarah and Herman insisting that if there was any further dice shooting after meetings she wasd not going to allow Herman to attend.
Ruth mad a motion that in view of the interesting discussion the meeting be re-opened. The meeting was re-opened. Herman, given his choice, said he wanted dice. Adolph suggested that Herman needs a body-guard as he openly asserted his opposition to his wife's wishes.
Sarah said then that she had no objection to the dice her only wish was to have everyone stay to the end of the game. Her only objection was to the "hit and run" guys. Herman still wanted dice to the end.
Adolph wants to adjourn the meeting so he can see the first televised broadcast of a President but want a note made in the minutes of Herman's bravery and Fred's cowardice. (Sec. note Pronunciations of word cowardice, is Adolph's) Guest attending the meeting were, Mr and Mrs Bush of Phila. and Mr and Mrs.___. Mr. Bush, upon leaving, found Mom's pearls on the front lawn.
As there was no further business the meeting was brought to its final adjournment.
